A Summer of Sun, 11 Months of Fun

Summer's in full swing and this little baby is on the move!

Evie, you certainly keep Mommy and Daddy on our toes every second but we love how much you're growing and exploring.

You haven't started walking yet, but that doesn't keep you out of trouble. Daily you sneak around barricades to climb the stairs, you fly across the room in seconds to pull the mustard bottle from the fridge or to climb into an open drawer unnoticed. You unroll the toilet paper in every bathroom and pull every book from your bookshelf each morning. The diaper box is always empty (because the diapers are strewn around the room) and if anything has a place it belongs, you're happy to fix that. Most days Mommy follows behind you putting things away. Sometimes you help, too. You're getting really good at putting things 'IN' instead of just taking them 'OUT'.

You're the greatest little thing to come into our lives and you are growing so fast! We always catch you laughing at yourself because you think you are so funny. No matter what you're doing (even if it's naughty) becomes funny just because of your silly laugh.

You're a Mommy's girl by heart and you don't like anyone to take you away from me... even Daddy. You sport ponytails and pigtails daily and, suddenly, you don't look like my baby anymore. You're a little girl.

You're a great helper with the chores, too. You've always loved helping Mommy do laundry, but now we've added unloading the dishwasher to the list. You're a pro at helping Mommy water the yard. You hold the hose and wiggle it around. It waters the yard but mostly you like to get Lucy wet with it. Lucy loves it too!

You love boxes and balls and library time. But picnics with daddy at lunchtime are our favorite.

You love to play hide-n-seek with Lucy. She waits at the bottom of the stairs until Mommy calls her. She runs up the stairs and if she takes more than a few seconds to find us, you start squealing--calling to her to help her find us. You're learning to give Lucy treats and even though you let them go for her, your face always looks confused as to why you don't get to eat it.

This summer has been the best Mommy and Daddy have had with so many fun adventures with you. Mommy and Evie go to the park a couple of times every week. You love to crawl in the grass, dig in the dirt, and trick me by putting it in your mouth. Mostly you love to go down the slides.

We had a playdate with our friends at the Naples Splash Pad and you loved it! You are definitely a water girl--baths, spraying the hose, playing in Lucy's water bowl, drinking Daddy's water bottle, dipping your hands in Mommy's glass of water. We spent a few hours toddling around the water park from puddle to puddle so you could sit and splash. The cold waters that sprayed across the park weren't your favorite, but you were a champ. You and Tiff played together under the pavilion, crawling over anything and everything to pick weeds from the sidewalk cracks... with an attempt to eat them.

We had an exciting afternoon at the Uintah County Fair. You walked through a tots farm and collected apples. You went for a wagon ride (which broke when we tried to bike you around--that didn't make you too happy). You pet a baby chick that cheeped when you touched him and you touched a hair goat.

The coolest part of the fair was the Scales and Tails show. We didn't get to stay to learn about all of the reptiles, but you did get to pet a boa constrictor. You have no fear, little girl! When everyone else gingerly touched its scaly skin, you PINCHED it!

We spent a day in the mountains with friends and you got to feed their pig through the fence. And we spent another at a carnival for Daddy's work. You got to play in a fish pond (literally in the fish pond) and came home with a fun balloon and ball.

We drove down to Orem to play with Grandma and Grandpa Lender and you got spoiled rotten. You played in Grandma's sandbox for the first time and washed off in her kiddie pool--clothes on and everything. You dug in the dirt and snuck a taste or two.

We spent a day at The Museum of Curiosity where you made friends with other little kids. The afternoon was filled with fun playing in a garden, with giant legos, and spending time with cousins.

After so much fun you sleep really well!

I don't like that you're getting so big and grown up, but I love all of the fun adventures we're having.  And I have too many pictures of your silliness and happiness!
