The Newest Adventures of You & Me...

I always heard that 4 months was the miracle month. At 4 months your baby would start sleeping through the night. At 4 months you can start feeding your baby rice cereal and solids. At 4 months...

It's all true and this past month we have seen so many changes (for the better) happen in this little girl's life.

Overnight, Evie, you became a big girl and gave up breast milk for formula. The change was not a happy one at first, but oh my the changes were worth every heartbreaking tear as we made the switch.

Along with taking the bottle, you actually take a pacifier now, too. When mommy gives you your pacifier before bed or nap, your eyes close and you drift off within minutes when it used to take hours (no exaggeration). You love to suck on your pacifier, and roll it around in your mouth until it falls out. Sometimes you spit it out on purpose to make room for all of your fingers. It's a rare day when we don't catch you sucking on your fingers, mommy's hair, a stuffed animal's ear, or a blanket.

Everything goes in your mouth these days...

You are now a tummy time master (which you used to only stand for a few minutes). You lay on your colored animals quilt from Grandma Kathy and stare at all the colors... and your little fingers go "scritch scritch scratch" the entire time. Once you get tired of tummy time you wiggle and wriggle until your body has completely rolled over... all but your head.

You hold your stuffed animals - your favorite is Melody, a little yellow haired doll - and slobber all over them. You love to look at yourself in the mirror and have started recognizing yourself. You often give yourself a little smile as you stare at your reflection.

You can't sit still for the life of you and Mommy and Daddy can't wait until you can start crawling even though we know you'll get into all sorts of trouble. You have to always sit and when we sit you somewhere, you want to stand. When we do lay you on your back, you flip and flop, throwing your legs down so you can spin yourself in circles.

You play with Lucy lots as we chase her around the house. She licks your toes and you pet her head. She comes immediately when you cry and likes to nap in your room with you. Already you two are best friends.

Peek-a-boo is a new favorite game and makes you smile and laugh instead of cry (the first few months it scared you).

This past month you've been able to play with lots of family! Aunt Kristy came for the weekend and you loved her. She could get you to smile and laugh - and stop crying - like no one else! You watched dance performances and played with your grandparents, cousins, and aunts/uncles over Thanksgiving. You even dominated at UNO.

We've had lots of fun getting to play and teach you new things. We can't wait for this next month and for your first Christmas. We love you, Evie!
