Baby's First Nursery

When I think about our little girl's arrival I am filled with excitement and am rest assured that I'll have everything together by the time she gets here. After all, I've got nine months.

My nine months of pregnancy have flown by and I am left in awe every day that there's only 2.5 months. Where did all of the time go? Justin and I have slowly been collecting baby gear: her stroller and car seat, diapers galore, and clothes of all sizes. We still have a lot that we need to get, but one thing is complete: Evie's nursery!

Check out her cute, little room below!

Baby's First Library: According to a PSA posted by Provo, UT in April 2017, children will become the most successful if they hear 45 million words before the age of three. That's 15 million a year, 1,250,000 a month or about 41,000 words a day. Hearing many new, complex words help babies form connections in their frontal lobe and build neural circuits in their brains. The more words your baby hears, the stronger and richer those connections become.

Although I love to talk, I don't know if I even have 45 million words to say. So I figured I better build our little girl's library so the books can help me out. I hosted a Facebook Party for Usborne Books in April and because of how successful it was, and the generosity of friends and family, we received over 15 books for free to build Evie's library!

Dresser: I'm almost 26 years old, but am definitely still a kid at heart. When we found out that we were having a girl, I wanted everything to be bright, bold PINK. None of this gender neutral, let my baby decide thing. She can pick her favorite color later on when she has a favorite, until then, I get to choose :)

We purchased this dresser from Walmart as a clean, simple white dresser. Over the next few weeks I painted the drawers in an ombre of pink with navy blue stripes on the inside of the drawers to help bring some color into her room. Later down the road, if our little girl ends up loving to color and draw like her mommy did as a kid, we're going to paint the side of her dresser with chalkboard paint.

Decorations: Each of Evie's windows has the below curtains hanging from it. The sun sets on her side of the house so for the majority of the day her room is filled with this pink glow! Luckily when I close the blinds the room gets dark so hopefully she'll be able to nap alright.

We're still waiting to find bedding we fall in love with and likely won't get any sheets or blankets until closer to her arrival. Her room is definitely the favorite in the entire house. And Lucy's already learning that she's not allowed in here ever... even with the door wide open.

Evie girl, now all we need is you!
